The Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago dutifully reminds the whole community about the historical significance of the month of April for Haiti.

April 7, 2007 was indeed the 204th anniversary of Toussaint Louverture’s death. We must above all reflect on the life of this giant.

Toussaint deserves to be admired by the whole world because in Saint-Domingue, he planted the seeds of the anti slavery struggle. However, we are the ones who must honor his memory and seek to be worthy of his legacy by practicing his brand of self-esteem and solidarity.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago avails itself of this opportunity to reiterate to all its undying solidarity.

Le Consulat Général de la République d’Haïti à Chicago se fait le devoir de rappeler à la communauté toute entière l’importance historique du mois d’avril pour Haïti.

En effet le 7 avril 2007 a ramené le 204ème anniversaire de la mort de Toussaint Louverture. Nous devons surtout méditer sur la vie de ce grand homme.

Pour avoir établi à Saint-Domingue les racines de la lutte contre l’esclavage, Toussaint mérite l’admiration du monde entier. Mais c’est surtout à nous qu’il revient d’honorer sa mémoire et de nous montrer dignes de son héritage en pratiquant comme lui l’amour propre et la solidarité.

Le Consulat Général de la République d’Haïti à Chicago profite de cette occasion pour renouveler à tous l’expression de son indéfectible attachement.
